Guess what I picked up at the Brunswick Bowl

Last Friday, I finally discovered the magic of the Brunswick Bowl on Adelaide. Many of my friends at Western Law have been singing its praises for the past two-and-a half years. It was high-time that I took a trip there. To describe it in one word: Cosmic. To describe it in three: Beer, Bowling and Beyond.

Many of my friends have won some amazing prizes at the Brunswick Bowl. Some have won hot-dog combos. Others have won beer glasses. One friend even went home with a Tim Horton’s employee.

On my inaugural trip to the Brunny, I also won a prize; two to be exact.

For 2 dollars I was able to play the claw game until I won something.

Here I am, holding aloft the spoils of my victory:

It took me 6 attempts with the claw to get these 2 trifles out of the machine. I was aiming all along for the Sylvester cat doll and when I finally got it, the orange thing decided to come along for the ride. Thankfully, there was a sign on the machine that read, “$2 – Play until you win” After my first failed attempt at snatching the pussy cat doll though, the claw got stuck and I had to wait a little while until it reset. During this moment of uncertainty, I wondered if the sign on the machine were some sick lawyer-like joke that was meant to be interpreted as “you can play until you win as long as you keep pumping toonies into the machine.” Thankfully, this wasn’t the case and the machine held true to the word of the sign and I finally collected big-time.

I wasn't the only one to collect from the claw that night. Here is Sarah with Scooby-Doo:

Besides winning fabulous prizes, my companions and I invented a new rule for bowling: If you fail to knock down at least five pins with the first ball in any frame, you have to do a trick-shot with the second ball in the same frame. Anything like bowling with your other hand, or bowling with no fingers in the ball or bowling backwards will count as a trick. Once in effect, this rule had a devastating effect on our scores. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all.

I miss bowling. I should go again sometime.

That cosmic bowling stuff was fun for a while, but got way loud and annoying pretty quick.

So you think the comments be working now, huh? Yarrr! Let's hope they be!

I fully maintain that my beer glass is superior to a hot dog combo and a Tim Horton's girl COMBINED.

That is all.

Sarah, I've eaten a hot dog combo at Bruswick Bowl. I met the Tim's Horton's girl. I've never seen your beer glass, but I guarantee you it is superior to both COMBINED.

Hehe. That sounds like loads of fun.

I did something like that for my 20th birthday - and we got all dressed up like it was Prom night all over again! XD

I think we did one regular game, and then one "trick shot" all the way game, though.

Very nice claw machine! Honest too, which is surprising indeed!
